Attorney Referral Program

WHAT IS YOUR FIRST STEP IF YOU ARE AN ATTORNEY TRYING TO REFER A CRIMINAL CASE?

First, pick up the phone and call me. I am available to talk to you personally about your client's sex crime case. You can give me the details, and then I will meet face to face with the client and educate them on how the system works and what I can do to help them.

If you want to be involved in the meeting, I am more than happy to accommodate that request, and we can work together to make sure that the client is taken care of professionally and discreetly.

I have been working with attorneys for the past 25 years to ensure that their clients are adequately represented for sex crimes in Los Angeles.

I go out of my way to make sure the client is taken care of and that any future referrals will come back through you so you do not lose out on any future business from the client.

I talk to fellow attorneys regarding legal issues that impact their clients, family, and friends.  I find that attorneys are one of my best referral sources and make sure that I bend over backward to give top-level service at all times.

Even if that means clearing up criminal related questions so you can more effectively represent your client or going to court to assist you in handling a criminal case, so you know that you are giving your client the most effective representation possible and achieving the best possible result for them and their interests.

If you are interested in my assistance and building a professional relationship with me, call me directly on my cell phone to discuss how we can mutually benefit each other (818) 624-9080.

LEARN WHAT YOUR INVOLVEMENT SHOULD BE AS AN ATTORNEY IN REFERRING A SEX CRIME CASE TO THE HEDDING LAW FIRM

The best referrals that I can get are the ones from fellow attorneys because the client typically trusts the referring attorney and knows that they are trying to help them by referring the case to me.

Your involvement can be precisely what you want it to be. In other words, if the client is good with it, then you can be another mind available to assist with the decision-making process in the case.

Even though you are not a sex crime defense attorney, you can still assist the client in making the crucial decisions related to their sex crime case.

On the other hand, if you just want to refer the case and leave it to me to make sure the client has strong representation, that is a perfectly acceptable way to handle it.

This is how most referring attorneys deal with helping a client who calls them and is in trouble related to a sex crime case in Los Angeles or anywhere in California.

They call and talk to me, and we go over the situation. They then have the client contact me, and I arrange a meeting to go over their case and begin properly representing them.

Most times, it is a step-by-step process, culminating in the case either being resolved by way of a negotiating plea or the case being tried in front of a jury.

Either way, with the client's permission, you can be kept in the loop and be made aware of everything going on with the case. We want you to be satisfied that the client is being taken care of and feel that you referred them to the best in the business!

WHEN A CLIENT COMMITS A CRIME AND ASKS FOR YOUR HELP, WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?

In 2010, I wrote an article titled “When a Client Commits a Crime and Ask for Help” (page 14) for the magazine called Valley Lawyer, which is a publication by the San Fernando Valley Bar Association and sent to lawyers and judges in the San Fernando Valley and throughout Los Angeles County.

It explained to attorneys, who do not practice criminal defense, what they should do when a client calls them who has committed a crime and asks for their advice.

I received many phone calls from fellow attorneys who were very optimistic about the article's approach.

At this point, I realized that most attorneys want to help their clients but either don't know how because the subject matter is not in their “wheelhouse” or do not know an attorney that practices in the area the client is asking about.

If you are interested in the article, you can check it out online at the San Fernando Valley Bar Associate's website.

The article addresses one key thing that the attorney who receives the call from a client about a criminal issue should not just “wing it” and give the client an answer they think sounds good to them.

Or even take money for the client and do the best to help them. Trying to help a client in the criminal defense arena is a bad idea, even if you have the best intentions.

I have had to come in and clean up many a mess left by an attorney that had no business trying to represent a criminal client. Sometimes the damage has been so extensive that I could not undo it.

If you need help with a client, call me. Even if all you are getting is some advice, that's ok. I will gladly give it, and you will know that you truly help your client.
