Campaign To impose Harsher Penalties on Child Trafficking, Sex With Minor, Child Pornography, and Soliciting

  • Published: September 3, 2013

There may be a tremendous need for Los Angeles Child Pornography Attorneys in the coming months.

Los Angeles County officials have launched a campaign to make California the most expensive state to be convicted for having sex with a minor or soliciting sex from a minor by the use of child pornography or any other lewd acts.

Officials are asking that penalties for the soliciting be increased from $1000 to $10,000.

The goal is to protect young children from being sexually exploited and forced into prostitution.

Letter will be sent to the state Senate, Governor, and Assembly to amend the state penal code and make it a felony offense to pay for sex with a minor rather than a misdemeanor and require impose California Penal code section 290, sex offender registration.

The motion would call on Congress to strengthen federal laws as well as state laws.

Child sex trafficking has become the second most profitable operation, the first being drugs and officials want to put a stop to this.

By law, children cannot consent to sex, and adults who exploit them are guilty of statutory rape. Kids forced into prostitution are often criminalized, while their customers face lighter penalties and state officials want to put an end to this and impose harsher penalties on the adults involved in these situations.
