Jaime Maldonado Perez, 26 years old, is scheduled to appear in San Fernando Superior Court on 28 different charges among which are seven counts of child molestation and four counts of statutory rape.
Perez is being accused of molesting a 10 year old female who is a relative for about three years.
A fugitive warrant was issued for Perez on May 8th and he was arrested June 6th. He had an additional warrant for abusing a victim in 2008.
The District Attorney’s office had first declined to prosecute the case as a felony but was then presented to the City Attorney’s office by the LAPD for prosecution.
Felony child molestation charges can result in anywhere from 3 to 10 years in prison and most sex crimes have a mandatory sex offender registration according to California Penal Code section 290.
Perez was being held on a $630,000 bail and if convicted of all counts he faces up to 16 years in prison.
