Man Sentenced to 43 Years For Rape During a Burglary

Posted by Ronald D. Hedding | Mar 26, 2013

On January 8, 2012, a Stevenson Ranch home was burglarized by Jerry Moon. A woman occupied the house during the burglary and was at the right place, which is one's home, at the wrong time, resulting in the rape of this woman.

Moon, who is 19 years old currently, was arrested and charged with burglary and rape.

In December 2012, the moon admitted and pled guilty to the forcible rape charge, plus one count each of sexual penetration by a foreign object through force and forcible oral copulation. He also admitted that he had tied up and bound the woman to have no means of escape.

Moon's sex crime defense attorney submitted a motion to try and withdraw Moon's guilty plea. Still, San Fernando Court Superior Court Judge Steve Nash rejected the motion after hearing the arguments.

Moon has been in jail with no bail since February 2012, and on March 25, 2013, the 19-year-old was sentenced to 43 years to life in state prison for the raping of a woman inside her home during the commission of a burglary.
