Arnold Serkin, 68, a podiatrist of Rancho Palos Verdes, has been accused of groping his women patients and of molesting his adopted daughter starting when she was 13 years old.
These allegations allegedly took place nearly 25 years ago.
The child molestation allegations came about a year case comes about a year after Serkin with groping women in his office.
Serkin surrendered himself on Monday, August 12, 2013, in a Torrance courtroom, although he pleaded not guilty to six counts of child molestation.
He posted a $400,000 bail and was released.
His state Medical Board license was immediately suspended.
His Los Angeles Sex Crime Attorney has stated that the allegations have no ground and noted that a bulk of the evidence comes from a civil lawsuit filed against Serkin back in 2010 by his adopted daughter, insinuating that the allegations are old. It's just based on her word against his word.
Serkin's defense lawyer is prepared to fight this battle and defend Serkin's right all the way through.
Serkin's daughter stated that her father told her that the sex acts they were engaging in were natural and that fathers and daughters do this. Serkin allegedly groped her, fondled her, showered with her, touched her private areas, and performed sexual acts on her.
In April, the courtroom Judge ordered Serkin to stand trial on four counts of sexual battery for allegedly groping four women during the last ten years in his office. One woman testified that Serkin pulled down her pants and underwear and squeezed her breasts during an exam, and two other women had similar stories.
Serkin is scheduled to appear in court for both cases on September 11th.
Although he is trying to merge both cases into one case, Serkin's Child molestation Defense Attorney has filed a motion to dismiss the patient's allegations.
If convicted, each case can result in a sentence of up to 6 years in prison.
