Police Officer Agrees to Prison For Committing Lewd Acts on Minor

Posted by Ronald D. Hedding | Jul 31, 2013 | 0 Comments

Miguel Angel Schiappapietra Jr., 28, a Los Angeles police officer, is being accused of committing lewd acts on a little girl and her sister, both of whom are under 10 years old on May 18th of 2013 in his home.

Per his Los Angeles Sex Crime Defense Attorney's assistance, Schiappapietra pled no contest to the charges and he is facing a possible 3 years in state prison.

According to his attorney, the no contest plea was his best bet due to the possibility of the prosecutor adding charges that may have resulted in a longer prison sentence. The evidence and witness testimony was highly taken into consideration by Schiappapietra's lawyer before the decision of the no contest plea was made. It seemed to be the best decision for him and his family.

As a result, he will also be required, according to California Penal code section 290, to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

No further information has been released as to the incidents or the victims.

He is scheduled to be sentenced on September 6th.
